Workshops and Classes

  • From time to time, Centre Pieces sponsors workshops and classes. The Guild has a fund to make it possible to attend these workshops if a Guild member is unable to afford the full cost. To apply, right-click on the link to the application form below, save the form to your computer, fill it out, and send it in to the following address:

    Centre Pieces Quilt Guild

Jill Wisniewski will lead a mini-workshop on how to use the "Piping Hot Binding" piping tool.

  • Piping Hot Binding - full Piping Hot Binding - corner

Jill Wisniewski will teach how to use the "Piping Hot Binding" mini piping tool. Learn Susan K. Cleveland's cool technique to apply mini piping around a small quilt, resulting in perfect, accurate piping and its binding. In this 2 hour class you will only have enough time to learn the technique and apply it to a very small item. The tool needed can certainly be shared, but you will want to own one.

Tool with instructions, which are required for the workshop, will be available for class participants to purchase on Tuesday, March 14, 2017 at the Evening Guild Meeting from Cynthia Spencer, owner of Stitch Your Art Out, or at Cynthia's store the week prior to the workshop.

Download the Supply List including important pre-class instructions so you can review it for needed pre-class preparation information.

Class sign up is required and limited to 18 participants, so sign up early. Please contact Debbie Barrick or Barbara Zeger to sign up to participate in this workshop. As always all members are welcome to attend and take notes. No fee for this workshop for Guild members.

Start saving your scraps now! Here is a brief description, sent by Laura, for your advanced planning concerning a reference photo and fabric: "[Select] a photo of your choice either from a snapshot or from your ipad (this will be large enough to refer to) or references from books, magazines etc. Find a landscape of your liking for example: woodland, seascape, trees and foliage. Choose your fabrics according to the photo you have chosen. For example, bring fabrics for sky, ground, trees, and/or flowers. Hand-dyed batiks are great for this project as well as solids or small prints. We will be cutting the fabrics into very small pieces so we need a variety of colors... throw in all your scraps this is a great way to use up all those leftovers from other projects."
