    • September Evening Meeting - Tuesday, September 11, 2018, 7:00-Social, 7:30 Business Meeting, 8:00 Program, Mount Nittany Middle School Library
      Gyleen Fitzgerald will be our guest speaker on the mechanics and architecture of using polygons in quilts.
    • Gyleen Fitzgerald makes quilts that blend color, pattern, and texture to provide a contemporary essence in traditional quilting. Her strength as a quilter is demonstrated by the infusion of engineering tools and innovative techniques to simplify visually complex quilts. She shares her enthusiasm for quilting through interactive lectures and workshops. As a writer, Gyleen centers on haiku poetry, quilt project books, magazine articles, and children's books.

      An avid quilter, Gyleen has earned Best of Show honors and as a publisher, she is a Gold Medal winner for Quilts: Unfinished Stories with New Endings. She is best known for inspiring Trash to Treasure Pineapple Quilts and the creation of the Pineapple Tool by Gyleen.

      Gyleen has appeared on The Quilt Show and Lifetime TV promoting a contemporary spirit in traditional quiltmaking.

      Gyleen is a Philadelphia, PA native, who spent her formative years in Taiwan and Japan. Her website is Colourful Stitches.

    • September Day Meeting/Workshop - Wednesday, September 12, 2018, 9am-4pm, Warehouse Room at Good Shepherd Catholic Church
      Gayleen Fitzgerald will conduct a workshop called "Star Struck".
    • We will do a project in which we learn techniques using her polygon rulers and special seaming techniques. We should be able to finish the project in one day. The workshop fee is $60 for members and $65 for non-members, and rulers and pattern are included in the price of the workshop. Pre-registration is required. Scholarships are available for Guild members. Contact Barbara Zeger for information and to enroll.

      Round Robin Demos by Guild members.
    • We'll have 5 members demonstrating for 10 minutes a quilting skill they enjoy. The audience members will rotate through the demonstrations so everyone will see all of them.

    • October Day Meeting/Class - Wednesday, October 17, 2018, 12-3pm (Social noon, Business Meeting 12:30. Program 1-3pm), Interpretive Center at the Transfer Station
      Mini Piping Class presented by Jill Wisniewski (rescheduled from March snow).
    • Learn Susan K. Cleveland's cool technique to apply mini piping around a small quilt, resulting in perfect, accurate piping and binding. Tool to be purchased before class: "Groovin' Piping Trimming Tool" by Susan K. Cleveland. This can be also purchased as a kit called "Piping Hot Binding" which includes the tool, instructions and 5 yards of cording. The company is called Pieces Be With You by Susan K. Cleveland. This is a free class to guild members. Limit 18. Please reserve your place with Jill.

    • November Day Meeting/Workshop - Wednesday, November 14, 2018, 10am-3pm, Interpretive Center at the Transfer Station
      Jared Box Pillow Case Workshop is the first in our Community Sewing Series, one of our service projects. The Jared Box Project's mission is to "..lift the spirits of sick children in the hospital with well wishes, hope, and love..."
    • Join us for a day of sewing fun themed pillowcases for sick children.

      Cindy Kolarek, a representative from the Jared Box Project, will join us in the morning to explain the Jared Box Project. Come learn how to make a burrito style pillowcase and help make a hospitalized child a little more comfortable.

      Supplies needed: Sewing machines, Basic Supplies (Cutting boards, rotary cutters, iron, ironing board or pressing pad, neutral thread), Fabric for the pillowcases has been purchased from Scraps and Skeins, compliments of The Jared Box Project.     • December Joint Meeting - Sunday, December 9, 2018, 2-5pm, Our Lady of Victory, State College
      Holiday Party.
    • Although this is a potluck appetizer/finger food party, please bring your own service items (plate, napkin, fork etc). We will have our traditional ornament exchange.
