      Karen Powers will lead a presentation on Scrap Quilt Variations.

      Let's create our own unique fabric to create fabulous blocks and borders. I like to use strips in the following widths: 1", 1 1/4", 1 1/2", 2", and 2 1/2". The length of the strips can vary. Got some leftover triangles or unused binding? Use those, too! Totally scrappy? Monochromatic? Lights? Darks? Complimentary colors? You paid for that fabric; don’t throw it away just because it’s small. Karen can show us how to build new fabric from scraps.

    • June Picnic and Joint Meeting - June 12, 2018, 3:30-7pm at Our Lady of Victory Social Hall
    • The picnic will be potluck so dig out your best recipe to serve 8-10. The ovens and the refrigerators will be available this time. Don't forget to bring a serving spoon or knife with your dish. The guild will provide drinks, napkins, and other necessary items. If anyone would like to help set up about 3:00 please contact Hilary Kleckner.

    • July Day Meeting/Workshop - Wednesday, July 18, 2018, 10am-3pm, Interpretive Center at the Transfer Station
      Louise Fox will present a workshop on "What to do with an orphan block?"
    • Start gathering pieces for your toy box now so you will have plenty to play with in July. Practice blocks, leftover blocks, strips and bits left over from completed quilts, and wonderful rescued blocks from Scraps and Skeins are all part of a quilter’s toy box. Louise will help us see a new life for these things too dear to throw away but just taking up space now.

    • September Evening Meeting - Tuesday, September 11, 2018, 7-9pm, Mount Nittany Middle School Library
      Gyleen Fitzgerald will be our guest speaker.
    • Gyleen Fitzgerald makes quilts that blend color, pattern, and texture to provide a contemporary essence in traditional quilting. Her strength as a quilter is demonstrated by the infusion of engineering tools and innovative techniques to simplify visually complex quilts. She shares her enthusiasm for quilting through interactive lectures and workshops. As a writer, Gyleen centers on haiku poetry, quilt project books, magazine articles, and children's books.

      An avid quilter, Gyleen has earned Best of Show honors and as a publisher, she is a Gold Medal winner for Quilts: Unfinished Stories with New Endings. She is best known for inspiring Trash to Treasure Pineapple Quilts and the creation of the Pineapple Tool by Gyleen.

      Gyleen has appeared on The Quilt Show and Lifetime TV promoting a contemporary spirit in traditional quiltmaking.

      Gyleen is a Philadelphia, PA native, who spent her formative years in Taiwan and Japan. Her website is Colourful Stitches.
