    • April Evening Meeting - Tuesday, April 11, 2017, 7-9pm, Mount Nittany Middle School Cafeteria
      Janneken Smucker will speak on "Amish Quilts".
    • Janneken is an Assistant Professor of History at West Chester University in PA. She lectures and writes widely on the topic of quilts for popular and academic audiences. She will lecture on Amish Quilts.
    • April Day Meeting/Workshop - Wednesday, April 19, 2017, 9am-3pm, Interpretive Center, Transfer Station
      Laura Cunningham will lead a workshop on "Confetti Quilts".

      Note: We will break for lunch and the Guild business meeting at 1 pm.
    • Sign up is required and limited to 18 participants. Fee is $45 for members/$55 for non-members. Only paid participants may attend this workshop. Contact Barbara Zeger for more information and to sign up.

      Start saving your scraps now! Here is a brief description, sent by Laura, for your advanced planning concerning a reference photo and fabric: "[Select] a photo of your choice either from a snapshot or from your ipad (this will be large enough to refer to) or references from books, magazines etc. Find a landscape of your liking for example: woodland, seascape, trees and foliage. Choose your fabrics according to the photo you have chosen. For example, bring fabrics for sky, ground, trees, and/or flowers. Hand-dyed batiks are great for this project as well as solids or small prints. We will be cutting the fabrics into very small pieces so we need a variety of colors... throw in all your scraps this is a great way to use up all those leftovers from other projects."

    • May Evening Meeting - Tuesday, May 9, 2017, 7-9pm, Mount Nittany Middle School Cafeteria
      Jane Hamilton will speak on "Challenging Your Creativity".
    • Jane is a professional fiber artist. This lecture will get your creativity flowing. Learn big and small steps you can take to move forward if you are in a rut, or don't know how to change your work. Ideas presented can be used as a group or individually as you learn techniques to "Step out of the box." Personal vintage collections and contemporary pieces are used in this lecture.
    • May Day Meeting/Workshop - Wednesday, May 17, 2017, 9:30am-3pm, Interpretive Center, Transfer Station
      Marty Snider will lead a workshop on the "Camelback Carryall Zipper Bag".

      Note: We will break for lunch at noon and follow with the Guild business meeting from 12:30 until 1:00 pm.
    • The pattern required for this workshop can be purchased at Stitch Your Art Out prior to the workshop. Ask Cynthia for the pattern as it may be put aside for us. Please follow the directions and supplies that Marty requests and not the ones on the pattern! Marty's supply list (updated) and a photo of the bag can be found on our Workshops page so you can review it for needed pre-class preparation information.

      There is no charge for the workshop, however sign up is required and as always members are welcome to attend and take notes. Contact Barbara Zeger for more information and to sign up.

    • June Joint Meeting - Tuesday, June 13, 2017, 4-8pm, Our Lady of Victory Catholic Church Activity Center in the Gardiner Social Hall
      June Pot Luck Dinner and Business Meeting
    • Activities will be Show and Tell, Final Mystery Quilt showing, and voting of new officers.

    • July Evening Meeting - Tuesday, July 11, 2017, 7-9pm, Mount Nittany Middle School Cafeteria
      Mary Koval, owner of Mary's Quilt Shop in historic Bedford, PA, will lecture on "What Do You See in Fabric Design?".
    • Mary is a fabric designer and will talk about her experiences.
    • July Day Meeting/Workshop - Wednesday, July 12, 2017, 10am-4pm, Interpretive Center, Transfer Station
      Mary Koval will lead a workshop on "Baltimore Album".

      Lori Hamilton, owner of Rose of Sharin' Quilt Shop in Danville, PA will speak on "Projects on the Go".
    • "Projects on the Go" are little quilting projects that can travel along with you. Lori will bring kits to sell and share her expertise in travelling and sewing projects at the same time.
    • August Day Meeting/Workshop - Wednesday, August 16, 2017, 9:30am-3pm, Interpretive Center, Transfer Station
      Claire Amick will lead a workshop on "Techniques for Miniature Quilts".

    • September Evening Meeting - Tuesday, September 12, 2017, 7-9pm, Mount Nittany Middle School Cafeteria
      Barb Schrader, owner of Schrader’s Fabrics in Johnstown, PA will speak on "Working With Minky and Flannel Fabrics".
    • Barb will tell us how to handle these soft and cuddly fabrics to make all kinds of quilts, scarves, and projects. She will sell fabrics and kits, a wonderful opportunity to get ready for gifts and projects. Her flannels are exquisite and feel like soft wool.
    • September Day Meeting/Workshop - Wednesday, September 13, 2017, 10am-2pm, Interpretive Center, Transfer Station
      Barb Schrader of "Schraders Fabrics by Barb", Johnstown, will present a workshop on "Working with Minky and Flannel".
